The last time I went to Movida Next Door was..actually, I can't remember. It was for a business dinner and I remember it was an amazing meal and we had port that was a hundred years old and it was delicious. Well.. to be perfectly honest, my friend Mrs F and I wanted to have dinner at Chin Chin, but the queue was too long and I was attending a JFF15 movie screening at nearby ACMI so time was a bit tight. I had seen empty seats at Movida when I'd walked past earlier and so off we went and when we reached the door, managed to score seats straightaway.
We started with drinks, I had The Kransky Special.. hello! my new favorite cocktail, not too heavy on the alchohol and easy on the tastebuds.
Mrs F had something else, but I didn't really like it....
The staff were really great and made sure to take us through the entire specials menu, which was probably as long as the regular menu. We started with something from the board, I'm ashamed to say I only it had tomatoes and anchovies, very flavourful and definitely made our mouths water for more.
Wild Mushroom Croquette: I described this as a really good cream of mushroom soup, fried.
Potato and Chorizo Bombas. That sauce, oh my, that sauce!
Something else from the specials board. Raw prawns in a lovely marinade.
Clams from the specials board, loved the sauce it was cooked in. Simple but satisfying.
Quick look at the watch, there was time before the screening for dessert!
Can't have tapas without churros, would've liked the chocolate sauce to be thicker. The sweetness level was just right otherwise.
Creama Catalanya, Creme brulee essentially. I'm not a big fan of creme brulee...
All in all, a really great meal, extremely consistent, value for money and quick!
Lesson of the day: definitely pays to be adventurous with the specials menu at Movida next door.
