Everytime I've heard of Brickvention happening was after the fact. This year, I read about it a bit too early and would've completely forgotten about it, if it weren't for the fact that my aunt was in town and she called to ask if there was anything she could bring her kids too. I'd brought them to science works a few years ago and they had such a ball that they now think I'm a kid-whisperer or something. So as soon as my aunt asked, Brickvention came to mind I looked it up and as luck would've had it, it was on that weekend (Jan 21st/22nd) , and as the luck continued, I managed to get tickets to the last session on the last day, phew, I don't know where I would've brought them, there aren't that many kid things in Melbourne I'm familiar with.
As mentioned, entry is via session times, to control the crowd and because it only runs for the one weekend, and as I found out, there're heaps of Lego fans, everywhere basically.
I'm too lazy to narrate so here it is: a photo essay on Brickvention 2012.
Pretty self-explanatory and pretty amazing. Next year? Only if I remember.
